Welcome to another exhilarating edition of Ring and Cage Chronicles, your go-to source for the most significant updates in the world of boxing and MMA. This week was packed with stunning upsets, remarkable comebacks, and intriguing announcements that have set the stage for an electrifying year in combat sports.

    Boxing Highlights

    Figueroa’s Stunning Victory

In a breathtaking upset, Brandon Figueroa, aged 29, defied the odds as a +275 underdog to claim the WBA Featherweight world title. Figueroa, with a record of 27-2 and 20 KOs, secured a thrilling 12th-round stoppage against Nick Ball, aged 28, who had a record of 23-1 and 13 KOs. The back-and-forth battle at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England, left fans on the edge of their seats and solidified Figueroa’s place in boxing history.

    Medina Retains WBO Bantamweight Title

In Guadalajara, Mexico, Christian “Chispa” Medina, aged 25, successfully defended his WBO Bantamweight Title against Adrian Curiel, aged 27. Medina, with a record of 27-4 and 19 KOs, won via unanimous decision with scores of 120-108, 116-112, and 115-113. This victory marks another milestone in Medina’s promising career.

    Spence Jr.’s Comeback

Former Welterweight King Errol Spence Jr. is set to make a highly anticipated return to the ring after a three-year hiatus. Spence Jr. will face Tim Tszyu at light-middleweight, although the official date and venue are yet to be announced. Fans are eagerly awaiting this clash of titans.

    Legal Battles and Comebacks

In other news, former Showtime Sports President Stephen Espinoza and current PBC business executive Al Haymon have denied any wrongdoing in a recent $340 million lawsuit involving Floyd Mayweather. Espinoza expressed his disappointment and surprise at the allegations, stating, “I’ve never done anything to make sure that a fighter got less than every penny that he deserved.”

Former WBO Cruiserweight Champion Marco Huck, aged 41, is making another comeback attempt. Huck, with a record of 43-5-1 and 28 KOs, will face Vaclav Pejsar, aged 41, at the Gerry Weber Stadion in Halle, Germany. This fight marks Huck’s return after a lengthy break following his 2024 win over Evginios Lazarides.

    Upcoming Fights

Jai Opetaia is set to face Brandon Glanton for the inaugural Zuffa Cruiserweight Championship at Zuffa Boxing 04 on March 8. Additionally, Fabio Wardley will defend his WBO World Heavyweight Championship against Daniel Dubois on May 9, 2026, at the Co-op Live in Manchester.

The WBC has stripped Shakur Stevenson of his lightweight title due to a dispute over a $120,000 sanctioning fee. Meanwhile, Zuffa Boxing 3 will take place on Sunday at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, headlined by a 10-round heavyweight battle between Efe Ajagba, aged 31, and former IBF Heavyweight Champion Charles Martin, aged 39.

    MMA Updates

The UFC will return next week in Houston, Texas, with a highly anticipated matchup between Sean Strickland, aged 34, and Anthony Hernandez, aged 32. Strickland, ranked #3, will face off against Hernandez, ranked #4, in what promises to be an exciting bout.
