As the boxing world continues to speculate about Floyd Mayweather’s potential return to the ring, one name has been consistently linked to the former champion: Manny Pacquiao. The two boxing legends first clashed in 2015, with Mayweather emerging victorious via unanimous decision. Now, with rumors of a rematch gaining traction, Jeff Mayweather, Floyd’s uncle and a respected voice in the boxing community, has offered his candid assessment of the situation.

According to Jeff Mayweather, a rematch with Pacquiao may not be the most viable option for his nephew. Given the convincing nature of Floyd’s dominant victory in their initial encounter, it’s difficult to argue with this logic. The boxing community has largely accepted the result of their 2015 fight as a definitive conclusion to their rivalry, and there has been little public demand for a second meeting between the two Hall of Famers.

Pacquiao, however, has been actively pursuing a rematch, particularly after his July 2025 draw with Mario Barrios. Despite this, Jeff Mayweather believes that Floyd would be better served exploring alternative options, such as a potential exhibition match with Mike Tyson. This perspective reflects a broader skepticism within Floyd’s camp about the commercial and sporting merit of revisiting a fight that was already decisively won over a decade ago.

It’s worth noting that Floyd Mayweather is currently facing significant financial challenges, including unpaid property taxes on his Las Vegas strip club, ‘Girl Collection.’ This potential setback highlights a sharp contrast between Mayweather’s public persona and his financial reality. As the boxing world continues to speculate about his future plans, it’s clear that any decision Floyd makes will be influenced by a complex array of factors, both in and out of the ring.

As we look to the future, one thing is certain: the boxing community will be watching with bated breath as Floyd Mayweather navigates this critical juncture in his career. Will he opt for a rematch with Pacquiao, or will he explore alternative options? Only time will tell, but one thing is clear – the world of boxing will be eagerly awaiting his next move.

In the meantime, fans can continue to speculate about the possibilities, from a potential showdown with Pacquiao to an exhibition match with Mike Tyson. One thing is certain, however: the world of boxing will always be filled with surprises, and Floyd Mayweather’s next move will undoubtedly be one of the most anticipated events in the sport.
