Tyson Fury Dismisses Speculation of Future Bout with Moses Itauma

In a recent statement, Tyson Fury, the self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King,’ has categorically ruled out any possibility of a future fight with the up-and-coming heavyweight sensation, Moses Itauma. This announcement comes amidst swirling rumors in the boxing community about a potential showdown between the two British fighters.

Itauma, who has been making waves in the heavyweight division, served as one of Fury’s primary sparring partners in the lead-up to his first encounter with Oleksandr Usyk in May 2024. Despite his impressive performance in training, Fury ultimately lost the bout by split decision, falling short in his quest for the undisputed heavyweight championship.

Since turning professional, Itauma has maintained a flawless record, securing victories in all 13 of his bouts. His stellar performance has positioned him on the cusp of a maiden world title shot, with a highly anticipated clash against Jermaine Franklin scheduled for this Saturday in Manchester.

Fury, who briefly retired following his second loss to Usyk, announced his comeback in January. He is set to return to the ring on April 11, facing off against Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, the 37-year-old has made it clear that Itauma is not part of his future plans.

‘He ain’t on my radar,’ Fury stated emphatically. ‘He ain’t won nothing yet, has he? He’s got his own career to think about. He is 21, he is nowhere near, is he? I will be a great grandfather by the time that he is up there. By the time that he is 30, I will be a granddad, guaranteed.’

Itauma’s recent performance includes a stunning first-round knockout of former world title challenger Dillian Whyte last August. This victory has further solidified his reputation as a formidable force in the heavyweight division.

Franklin, Itauma’s upcoming opponent, has only suffered two losses in his career, both by decision to Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua. Despite being the underdog, Franklin has expressed feeling disrespected by those who have counted him out.

‘I don’t feel like I get the respect that I deserve,’ Franklin admitted. ‘But I’m used to it. This has been part of my career my whole life. I’ve been told I was too fat, too short, won’t amount to anything. I just keep proving people wrong time after time again.’

As the boxing world eagerly awaits the upcoming bouts, Fury’s dismissal of a future fight with Itauma has certainly added an intriguing twist to the narrative. While Itauma continues his ascent in the heavyweight ranks, Fury remains focused on his own journey, leaving fans to speculate about what the future holds for these two remarkable fighters.
