On the 9th of May, the Co-op Live in Manchester will be the epicenter of the boxing world as Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois step into the ring for a highly anticipated all-British heavyweight clash. This bout, headlining a Queensberry Promotions fight card and broadcasted live worldwide, promises to be a thrilling encounter, aptly nicknamed ‘Blink and You’ll Miss It.’ Wardley’s WBO world heavyweight title will be on the line, adding even more significance to this already explosive matchup.

Fabio Wardley, with an impressive record of 20-0-1 and 19 KOs, has shown an indomitable spirit throughout his career. His victories over Justis Huni and Joseph Parker are testament to his skill and determination. The sole draw on his record, a 12-round bout against Frazer Clarke, was swiftly avenged with a first-round knockout in their rematch. Wardley’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable, and he now stands on the brink of further greatness.

Daniel Dubois, on the other hand, has had a rollercoaster career. With a record of 22-3 and 21 KOs, Dubois has faced setbacks but has shown incredible resilience. After defeats to Joe Joyce and Oleksandr Usyk, many wrote him off. However, he bounced back with impressive wins over Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua. Despite a second loss to Usyk and a brief stint with trainer Tony Sims, Dubois has returned to his original trainer, Don Charles, and seems poised for a strong comeback.

Don Charles, Dubois’s trainer, recently shared his thoughts on his fighter’s growth and the upcoming bout. ‘Daniel is maturing every day, not just as a fighter but as a human being,’ Charles stated. ‘At 28, he’s still developing, and we must acknowledge what he’s achieved in his professional career and life. We focus on the positives, learn from mistakes, and strive to improve.’

When asked about the possibility of a knockout, Charles was confident. ‘Absolutely, their knockout ratios are nearly identical, so expect a shootout. Daniel’s amateur pedigree will shine through and make the difference. I predict Daniel will win by knockout.’

This fight is not just a battle for the WBO heavyweight title but also a potential stepping stone to greater challenges. Promoter Frank Warren has expressed interest in having the winner face Oleksandr Usyk, followed by a trilogy bout with Tyson Fury. Wardley himself has stated his ambition to fight Usyk and Fury after defeating Dubois.

As the date approaches, the anticipation builds. Wardley vs. Dubois is more than just a fight; it’s a clash of titans, a test of wills, and a showcase of British heavyweight boxing at its finest. Fans around the world will be tuning in, eager to witness history in the making.
