Welcome to our weekly roundup of the most significant events in the world of boxing and MMA. This week, we witnessed some truly remarkable performances and unexpected outcomes that have left fans on the edge of their seats.

In a stunning welterweight debut, Arnold Barboza Jr., aged 34, hailing from South El Monte, Calif., triumphed over Chicago’s Kenneth ‘Bossman’ Sims Jr., aged 32. Barboza’s dominance was evident throughout the bout, and despite a headbutt in the 11th round, he secured a unanimous decision victory with scores of 120-108, 118-110, and 117-111. Post-fight, Barboza called out Ryan Garcia, setting the stage for a potential showdown.

Another highlight of the week was the impressive performance by Oscar Collazo, aged 29, who maintained his undefeated record by defeating Jesus Haro, aged 23. Collazo’s relentless pressure and a staggering punch count in the 6th round forced Haro’s corner to keep him on the stool before the start of the 7th.

In the realm of women’s boxing, Gabriela Fundora, aged 23, successfully defended her status as the undisputed flyweight champion by defeating Colombian challenger Viviana Ruiz Corredor, aged 43, via TKO. Fundora’s height and reach advantage allowed her to dismantle Ruiz from the outside, culminating in a referee stoppage in the 6th round.

Across the pond in Dublin, Ireland, James ‘Jazza’ Dickens, aged 34, lost his WBA super-featherweight world title to Anthony ‘The Apache’ Cacace, aged 37, via a 12-round unanimous decision. This bout marked a significant shift in the super-featherweight division.

In a technical yet high-paced fight, Shokichi Iwata, aged 30, claimed the WBC junior flyweight title from Knockout CP Freshmart, aged 35, via an 8th-round technical decision. A clash of heads in the 4th round opened a severe cut above Freshmart’s right eye, leading to the fight being stopped in the 8th round with Iwata ahead on all three judges’ scorecards.

Veteran boxer Nonito Donaire, aged 43, faced a tough loss against Riku Masuda, aged 28, being stopped in the 8th round via TKO. This marks a challenging period in the final chapter of Donaire’s legendary career.

Lastly, Anthony Olascuaga, aged 27, successfully defended his WBO flyweight title by stopping Jukiya Iimura in the 9th round. This victory solidifies Olascuaga’s position as a formidable force in the flyweight division.

It’s been a massive week for boxing, filled with unforgettable moments and pivotal fights that will shape the future of these sports. Stay tuned for more updates and in-depth analysis.
