Wood vs. Warrington II: High Stakes Rematch in Nottingham

The stage is set for an electrifying rematch this Saturday in Nottingham, as Leigh Wood prepares to defend his honor against Josh Warrington at the Motorpoint Arena. The anticipation is palpable, with Wood entering the ring as the clear favorite to secure a second victory over Warrington.

Their first encounter in Sheffield in 2023 was nothing short of dramatic. Wood, who was trailing on the scorecards, delivered a stunning seventh-round knockout to retain his WBA featherweight title. This time, the 37-year-old Wood enjoys home advantage, but he is coming off a ninth-round defeat to Anthony Cacace last May. Despite this setback, Wood is backed at 4/6 to emerge victorious, with odds favoring a stoppage at 13/8.

Warrington, on the other hand, has had a mixed run of form, securing only one win in his last four contests. The 35-year-old, known as ‘The Leeds Warrior,’ briefly considered retirement after a loss to Cacace in September 2024. However, he made a comeback in April with a points victory over Asad Asif Khan. Warrington is priced at 6/5 to gain revenge over Wood, with his best shot seen on points at 12/5.

The stakes couldn’t be higher for this rematch, aptly named ‘Last Man Standing.’ Defeat for either fighter could very well spell the end of their illustrious careers. The odds reflect the high drama expected in the ring, with Wood favored to win by knockout in various rounds, and Warrington’s best chances lying in a points decision.

As the boxing world eagerly awaits this clash of titans, one thing is certain: only one man will leave the ring with his career intact. The rematch promises to be a thrilling spectacle, with both fighters determined to prove their mettle and secure their legacy in the sport.
