The unified World Cruiserweight Champion, Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez, is trading his gloves for a promoter’s hat, bringing an electrifying night of boxing to Corpus Christi, Texas, on January 31st. The event, dubbed ‘Gulf Coast Glory,’ promises to be a thrilling showcase of local talent and international prospects.
Zurdo Promotions, spearheaded by the three-time, two-division world champion himself, is teaming up with Knuckle Up Promotions and Heil Law to present this exciting card at the Richard Borchard Fairgrounds in Robstown, Texas. This marks the third promotional event for Zurdo Promotions, following successful shows in Galveston, Texas, and Ramirez’s hometown of Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico.
‘Promotion is something I’ve always wanted to be involved in,’ Ramirez shared. ‘I see myself as a bridge between my hometown and the United States. Corpus Christi, where I’ve defended my world title twice, is the perfect place to start.’
The ‘Gulf Coast Glory’ card will feature two co-main events, both starring hometown heroes. Middleweight prospect ‘King’ Julian Delgado (7-1, 3 KOs), a Corpus Christi native, will step into the ring. Delgado’s amateur career was nothing short of stellar, with top honors at the 2023 National Junior Olympics and Summer Festival Championship.
Sharing the spotlight is another local favorite, Jerry ‘The Corpus Christi Kid’ Belmontes (21-10, 6 KOs). A former world lightweight title challenger, Belmontes will make his highly anticipated return to the ring for the first time since November 18, 2016.

The undercard is equally impressive, with former WBA Intercontinental Light Heavyweight Champion Kareem ‘Supreme’ Hackett (12-1, 6 KOs) of Toronto making his cruiserweight debut. Additionally, undefeated Mongolian featherweight prospect Enkh-Amadakh Kharkhuu (7-0, 3 KOs) will fight for the first time in Texas.
