On the 8th of March, the Meta Apex in Las Vegas will be the stage for a thrilling Zuffa Boxing event, headlined by the undefeated Jai Opetaia squaring off against Brandon Glanton. This highly anticipated bout will see Opetaia’s lineal and IBF cruiserweight titles on the line, along with the Zuffa cruiserweight belt. In a recent conversation, Opetaia shared his thoughts on the failed negotiations with Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez and hinted at a potential unification bout in the future.

Opetaia, boasting an impressive record of 29-0 with 23 KOs, has always been vocal about his ambition to unify all the cruiserweight titles. His last victory, a spectacular eighth-round knockout against Huseyin Cinkara, further solidified his reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the division. Glanton, with a record of 21-3 and 18 KOs, is known for his tenacity and will undoubtedly pose a challenge to Opetaia’s dominance.

When questioned about the potential fight with Zurdo Ramirez, Opetaia stated, ‘There wasn’t much discussion, to be honest. We were keen on the fight, but they declined. It is what it is. I need to focus on the task at hand on the 8th, and I’m confident that fight will happen eventually. We just need to keep winning and stay focused on our goals.’

Opetaia also expressed his interest in facing WBC cruiserweight champion Noel Mikaelian around June, describing the potential timeline as ‘perfect.’ His determination to unify the division is evident, and he understands the importance of delivering stellar performances each time he steps into the ring.

The full fight card for the evening promises an exciting lineup of bouts. Alongside the main event, fans can look forward to Ricardo Salas vs Jesus Saracho in a 10-round welterweight clash, Adan Palma vs Pablo Rubio Jr. in an 8-round featherweight contest, and several other intriguing matchups.

As the boxing world eagerly awaits the outcome of Opetaia vs Glanton, one thing is certain: Jai Opetaia’s ambition and skill set will continue to make waves in the cruiserweight division. His focus on unifying the titles and facing the best in the division underscores his commitment to leaving a lasting legacy in the sport.
