In a thrilling display of skill and determination, Lone’er Kavanagh secured the most significant victory of his career by defeating former two-time champion Brandon Moreno in the main event of UFC Fight Night 268. The bout took place on Saturday, February 28th, 2026, at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, captivating fans with five rounds of intense action.

Moreno, known for his sharp jab and aggressive style, started the fight strong, catching Kavanagh with precise strikes during an early kick attempt. However, Kavanagh quickly adapted, focusing on attacking Moreno’s lead leg with a series of steady kicks. Despite Moreno’s attempts to increase his output, Kavanagh remained patient and continued to target the leg, disrupting Moreno’s rhythm.

As the fight progressed, Kavanagh’s strategy paid off. He landed a strong left hand that connected as Moreno stepped forward, followed by a powerful combination late in the round that visibly shook the former champion. Kavanagh’s disciplined approach and effective striking ultimately earned him a unanimous decision victory, with scores of 49–46, 48–47, and 48–47.

This victory marks a significant milestone for Kavanagh, who entered the fight with a record of 9-1-0 and was ranked No. 76 in the flyweight division. His recent performances, including victories over Jose Ochoa and Felipe dos Santos, had set the stage for this impressive win. For Moreno, who held a professional record of 23-9-2 and was ranked No. 5 in the flyweight division, this loss adds to a challenging period in his career, having won only two of his last five bouts.

The co-main event featured a clash between former bantamweight title challenger Marlon Vera and rising contender David Martinez. Vera, ranked No. 9, brought his experience and skill to the octagon, while Martinez, ranked No. 10, aimed to make a statement with a strong performance. The preliminary card also showcased a series of exciting matchups, including Ryan Gandra vs. Jose Medina, Ailin Perez vs. Macy Chiasson, and Kris Moutinho vs. Cristian Quinonez.

UFC Fight Night 268 was a night of high-stakes action, with fighters delivering memorable performances in front of a passionate Mexico City crowd. The event highlighted the depth of talent in the flyweight division and set the stage for future matchups and title contention.

As the dust settles on this epic showdown, fans and analysts alike will be eagerly anticipating the next steps for both Kavanagh and Moreno. Kavanagh’s victory has undoubtedly positioned him as a rising star in the flyweight division, while Moreno will be looking to regroup and reclaim his path to the title.
