Welcome back to another edition of Ring Insights, where we delve into the latest happenings in the world of boxing. Today, we explore the junior middleweight division, reflect on Joe Calzaghe’s illustrious career, and examine the potential rematch between Gervonta Davis and Isaac Cruz.

The junior middleweight division is heating up, with several fighters making waves and vying for supremacy. This weight class has always been a hotbed for thrilling encounters, and the current landscape promises more of the same. Keep an eye on the rising stars and established names as they battle it out for dominance.

In other news, the legacy of Joe Calzaghe continues to inspire. The Welsh legend’s undefeated record and impressive resume remain a benchmark for aspiring boxers. Calzaghe’s ability to adapt and overcome various styles throughout his career is a testament to his skill and determination. His fights against the likes of Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. are etched in boxing lore, serving as a reminder of his greatness.

Meanwhile, the potential rematch between Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Isaac Cruz has the boxing world buzzing. Davis, who has faced a tumultuous year with legal and professional setbacks, is aiming for a comeback in 2026. Cruz’s camp has made it clear that Davis is at the top of their “hit list,” with Cruz’s advisor, Sean Gibbons, describing their previous match as “unfinished business.” Their December 2021 encounter was an epic battle, and a rematch promises to be just as thrilling.

Before any rematch can take place, Davis must first resolve his legal issues. Fortunately, a recent development saw a Baltimore judge recall an arrest warrant after Davis’s legal team addressed the court’s concerns. This is a positive step for Davis as he looks to put his troubles behind him and focus on his boxing career.

In other exciting news, Shakur Stevenson, the current WBO junior welterweight champion, recently shared his thoughts on the greatest boxers in history. Stevenson’s list included Terence Crawford, Floyd Mayweather, Pernell Whitaker, Andre Ward, and Sugar Ray Leonard. Stevenson’s last fight was a unanimous decision victory against Teofimo Lopez in January of this year, capturing the WBO junior welterweight title. With a professional record of 25 wins (11 by knockout) and no losses, Stevenson is certainly making a name for himself in the sport.

As we look ahead to the rest of 2026, there are several exciting matchups on the horizon. Fights like Nick Ball vs. Brandon Figueroa and Raymond Muratalla vs. Andy Cruz Gomez promise to deliver high-octane action and keep boxing fans on the edge of their seats.

Stay tuned for more updates and insights from the world of boxing. Until next time, keep your gloves up and your guard tight.
