In the wake of his dominant victory over Teofimo Lopez, Shakur Stevenson has set his sights on a potential bout with Ryan Garcia. The 28-year-old boxing sensation, who outclassed the two-weight world champion Lopez in a unanimous decision, is now exploring new horizons in his career. Stevenson’s recent triumph has sparked discussions about his next potential opponents, with Garcia’s name prominently featuring in the mix.

Stevenson’s impressive performance against Lopez, where he arguably won all 12 rounds, has solidified his position as a formidable force in the boxing world. The victory, which took place in New York, has opened doors to exciting matchups, including a possible clash with ‘King Ry’ Garcia. Stevenson expressed his enthusiasm for this potential fight during an interview on The Cigar Talk podcast, stating, “I would love it.”

However, Stevenson has laid down specific conditions for the fight to materialize. He insists on a rehydration clause if he were to move up to the 147 lbs weight class. “If you want me to come to 147 lbs, I am coming in with a rehydration clause… any of y’all if you want to fight me at 147… 10lbs,” Stevenson asserted. This clause would limit the weight advantage Garcia could have on fight night, ensuring a more balanced contest.

Stevenson’s call for a rehydration clause is not new. He has previously used this condition in his fight against Chris Eubank Jr. and sees it as a necessary measure to level the playing field. “I want that same rehydration clause that you put on Eubank Jr, and I want to fight. Let’s make it happen,” Stevenson declared.

Garcia, meanwhile, is set to challenge for the WBC world title on February 22nd in Las Vegas, facing Mario Barrios at 147lbs. This weight class is a step up from Stevenson’s last fight, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the potential matchup. Stevenson, who only recently moved up to super lightweight, is now a four-weight world champion and may be poised to move up another weight class.

Despite his success at super lightweight, Stevenson has hinted at a possible return to lightweight, keeping his options open. His recent victory over Lopez, where he landed precise shots and controlled the pace, has showcased his versatility and skill. With a professional record of 25-0 and 11 KOs, Stevenson is undoubtedly one of the most exciting fighters in the world today.

As the boxing community eagerly awaits Garcia’s upcoming title challenge, the potential showdown between Stevenson and Garcia promises to be a thrilling encounter. With Stevenson’s conditions on the table, it remains to be seen whether Garcia will accept the challenge and step into the ring with one of boxing’s most formidable talents.
