In the ever-evolving landscape of boxing, 2026 has already witnessed two stellar performances that have set the stage for a potential showdown. Shakur Stevenson, with an unblemished record of 25-0 and 11 KOs, delivered a masterclass against Teofimo Lopez. Simultaneously, Raymond Muratalla, boasting a perfect 24-0 record with 17 KOs, showcased his prowess by defeating Andy Cruz in a career-defining bout. The boxing world has been abuzz with speculation about a potential clash between these two titans, and Devin Haney recently shared his insights on this intriguing matchup.

The prospect of a Stevenson-Muratalla bout is not merely a figment of fans’ imaginations. With Muratalla holding the IBF lightweight championship and Stevenson reigning as the WBO and Ring Magazine super lightweight champion, the fight could materialize at either weight class. Stevenson himself has expressed a keen interest in facing Muratalla, confidently stating, “I would love the Muratalla fight. I would beat him so easily.” Muratalla, on the other hand, has made it clear that he is ready to face Stevenson at either 135 or 140 pounds, adding fuel to the fire of anticipation.

Devin Haney, a prominent figure in the boxing world, recently weighed in on the potential showdown. Appearing on a popular boxing show, Haney revealed his support for Stevenson, stating, “I think that’s a good fight for Shakur.” Haney’s admiration for Muratalla’s performance against Andy Cruz was evident, as he acknowledged being impressed by Muratalla’s dominance in the ring. “I’m not going to say that I didn’t have him winning that fight, but I just didn’t think he would dominate the way that he did,” Haney remarked. “He showed that he was a much better and seasoned fighter.”

Haney’s analysis delved deeper into the stylistic aspects of a potential Stevenson-Muratalla bout. He praised Muratalla’s power and experience but expressed doubts about his ability to disrupt Stevenson’s rhythm. “He’s been around for a while, and he’s been good since he was a kid,” Haney said, reflecting on their shared history, which includes sparring sessions when they were just nine years old. Haney also touched on the strategic elements, suggesting that Muratalla’s coach, Robert Garcia, would likely devise a game plan centered around pressure. However, Haney remains skeptical about whether such a strategy aligns with Muratalla’s natural style.

As the boxing community eagerly awaits further developments, the potential Stevenson-Muratalla clash promises to be a thrilling encounter. With both fighters at the peak of their careers and Haney’s insightful analysis adding depth to the narrative, the stage is set for a bout that could define the lightweight and super lightweight divisions for years to come.
