In the world of boxing, words often carry as much weight as the punches thrown in the ring. Recently, welterweight champion Terence Crawford delivered a verbal jab at Ryan Garcia, responding to the latter’s comments with a blunt assessment: “You’re not that guy.”

Crawford, a seasoned fighter with an impressive record, secured the WBC welterweight title with a masterful performance against Mario Barrios in February. His career, marked by discipline and strategic prowess, has earned him a place among the greats. However, Garcia’s recent remarks suggesting that Crawford “left more of his legacy on the table” seemed to strike a nerve.

Garcia, the current WBC welterweight title holder, has been making waves both in and out of the ring. His recent victory over Mario Barrios by unanimous decision solidified his position as a formidable force in the welterweight division. But it’s not just his in-ring performances that are making headlines. Garcia has been vocal about his future plans, naming former world champion Teofimo Lopez as his next opponent.

“With Turki Alalshikh, now you have no excuse but to fight people – but Tank still won’t fight people, which nobody really calls him out on,” Garcia stated on the Creators Think Podcast YouTube channel. “I’m out here fighting Devin Haney, Tank Davis… now I’m about to fight Teofimo.”

Garcia’s confidence is palpable, but his potential bout with Lopez is yet to be officially confirmed. Lopez, who suffered a loss to Shakur Stevenson earlier this year, is looking to bounce back and reclaim his status as a top contender. A fight between Garcia and Lopez would undoubtedly be a thrilling encounter, pitting two of the sport’s most dynamic fighters against each other.

Meanwhile, Crawford’s response to Garcia’s comments underscores the competitive spirit that drives these athletes. Crawford’s assertion that Garcia is “not that guy” is a clear challenge, hinting at the possibility of a future showdown between the two welterweight stars.

As the boxing world eagerly awaits official announcements and potential matchups, one thing is certain: the welterweight division is heating up, and fans can expect a series of high-stakes battles in the near future. Whether it’s Crawford defending his legacy or Garcia proving his mettle, the stage is set for some unforgettable nights of boxing.
