In the heart of Liverpool, the M&S Bank Arena is poised to host a thrilling light heavyweight bout this Saturday, as Ben Whittaker and Braian Suarez step into the ring. The stage is set for a captivating clash, with both fighters eager to prove their mettle.

Ben Whittaker, known as ‘The Surgeon,’ made his way to the scales accompanied by a mascot, tipping in at a formidable 182.14lbs. This marks a notable increase of nearly eight pounds since his last bout, a first-round knockout victory over Benjamin Gavazi in November. Whittaker’s confidence was palpable as he addressed the crowd, stating, “You see the shape I’m in. We’ve been working hard, and I’ll turn him into a steak this weekend. It’s a great opportunity, and I’ll take it with both hands.”

His opponent, Braian Suarez, weighed in slightly lighter at 182.1lbs. The Argentine fighter, who suffered a halt against Lyndon Arthur in 2023, brings a formidable record to the ring, with 20 of his 21 victories coming by way of knockout. Suarez has won two of his last three contests, showcasing his resilience and determination.

The Whittaker vs. Suarez bout was elevated to the main event after the original headliner, Callum Smith, was forced to withdraw from his scheduled showdown with David Morrell due to injury. This unexpected turn of events has only heightened the anticipation for what promises to be an electrifying evening of boxing.

Should Whittaker emerge victorious, he is slated to fight on the undercard of the super welterweight world title fight between Xander Zayas and Jaron Ennis in Brooklyn on June 27. This adds an extra layer of significance to Saturday’s bout, as Whittaker aims to secure his place in the upcoming high-stakes event.

The undercard for the Liverpool event is equally compelling, featuring a lineup of talented fighters ready to showcase their skills. Molly McCann and Ashleigh Johnson will square off in a super bantamweight contest, while Joe McGrail and Aaron Hayden will vie for the Central Area super bantamweight title. Other notable bouts include Leo Atang vs. Viktar Chvarkou in the heavyweight division, Stephen Clarke vs. Luis Enrique Montelongo Morales in the middleweight category, and several other exciting matchups.

As the weigh-in results are officially recorded, the stage is set for a night of intense competition and unforgettable moments. Boxing enthusiasts around the world are eagerly awaiting the bell to ring, signaling the start of what promises to be a memorable evening in Liverpool.
