In a highly anticipated rematch set to take place this Saturday in Nottingham, Leigh Wood is poised to defend his victory against Josh Warrington. The Motorpoint Arena will host this grudge match, with Wood entering the ring as the clear favorite. The two fighters will meet again after Wood’s dramatic seventh-round knockout of Warrington in Sheffield in 2023, a fight where Wood was trailing on the scorecards but managed to retain his WBA featherweight title with a stunning comeback.

At 37, Wood enjoys the advantage of fighting on home turf, but he is coming off a ninth-round defeat to Anthony Cacace last May. Despite this setback, bookmakers are backing Wood at 4/6 to emerge victorious once again, with a stoppage victory priced at 13/8. The stakes are high for both fighters, as defeat could potentially mark the end of their careers.

Warrington, aged 35, has also seen a mix of results in his recent bouts, securing only one win in his last four contests. After a loss to Cacace in September 2024, Warrington briefly considered retirement but made a comeback in April with a points victory over Asad Asif Khan. The odds for Warrington to gain revenge over Wood stand at 6/5, with his best chance seen in a points decision at 12/5.

The event, aptly named ‘Last Man Standing,’ promises to be a thrilling encounter. The betting odds reflect the high stakes and the potential outcomes of this rematch. Wood is favored to win by knockout, with varying odds for each round. Warrington, on the other hand, is seen as more likely to secure a victory by decision, should he manage to overcome Wood.

For Wood, the path to victory by knockout is priced as follows: Round 1 at 80/1, Round 2 at 50/1, Round 3 at 33/1, Round 4 at 28/1, Round 5 at 22/1, Round 6 at 20/1, Round 7 at 18/1, Round 8 at 16/1, Round 9 at 16/1, Round 10 at 18/1, Round 11 at 20/1, and Round 12 at 22/1. A decision or technical decision victory for Wood is priced at 3/1.

Warrington’s odds for a knockout victory are significantly higher, reflecting the perceived difficulty in achieving such a result. His odds start at 100/1 for the first three rounds, then drop to 66/1 for Round 4, 50/1 for Rounds 5 and 6, 40/1 for Rounds 7 through 10, and back to 50/1 for Rounds 11 and 12. A decision or technical decision victory for Warrington is priced at 12/5.

As the fight approaches, the anticipation builds for what promises to be a memorable and potentially career-defining bout for both Leigh Wood and Josh Warrington.
