In a groundbreaking move for the world of mixed martial arts, the Professional Fighters League (PFL) has officially launched its independent fighter rankings, marking a significant milestone for the organization. This new system, powered by the esteemed Combat Registry, introduces a transparent and objective framework for evaluating PFL athletes across various divisions.

The rankings, which were unveiled on January 27, 2026, cover nine divisions and include a men’s Pound-for-Pound category. This initiative represents the first time PFL fighters have been assessed within a traditional rankings system, designed to adapt and evolve with live competition results.

Combat Registry, renowned for its global combat sports data and rankings, will oversee the collection, tabulation, and publication of votes. A panel of seasoned MMA journalists and industry experts will cast their ballots following each PFL event, ensuring that the rankings remain current and reflective of the fighters’ performances. This process operates independently of the PFL, guaranteeing impartiality and credibility.

John Martin, CEO of PFL, expressed his enthusiasm for the new system, stating, “These rankings offer a clear and objective overview of the competitive landscape within each PFL division. By collaborating with an independent data organization like Combat Registry, we are providing fans and athletes with a transparent and reliable rankings system that truly reflects performance inside the PFL cage.”

The inaugural rankings feature a comprehensive list of top contenders across various weight classes. Notable names include Usman Nurmagomedov, who tops the men’s Pound-for-Pound rankings, and Vadim Nemkov, who is ranked second. The rankings also highlight champions and top contenders in divisions such as Bantamweight, Featherweight, Lightweight, Welterweight, Middleweight, Light Heavyweight, and Heavyweight, as well as Women’s Flyweight.

This new ranking system is expected to bring a fresh level of excitement and competition to the PFL, as fighters strive to climb the ranks and prove their mettle in the cage. Fans can look forward to a more dynamic and engaging viewing experience, with each event potentially reshaping the rankings and setting the stage for future showdowns.

As the PFL continues to innovate and elevate the sport of MMA, this independent ranking system stands as a testament to the organization’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and the celebration of athletic excellence.
