In a candid revelation, the legendary Mike Tyson has opened up about the missteps that led to his less-than-stellar performance in his recent bout against Jake Paul. The former heavyweight champion, now 59, has vowed to apply the lessons he’s learned to his upcoming exhibition match with Floyd Mayweather.

Tyson’s last outing in November 2024 saw him lose a unanimous decision to Paul, a fight that was unique in its format, featuring 14oz gloves and a limited duration of eight, two-minute rounds. The boxing icon, known for his ferocious style and intimidating presence, seemed to struggle with the unconventional setup.

“I’ve had time to reflect and understand where things went wrong,” Tyson admitted. “I made some mistakes in my preparation and approach to the fight. But I’ve learned from them, and I promise you, I’ll be better.”

The upcoming exhibition match with Mayweather, another boxing legend, has generated significant buzz in the boxing community. Fans are eager to see how Tyson will adapt and whether he can return to the form that made him a household name.

“Floyd is a great fighter, and this match is about giving the fans a show,” Tyson said. “But make no mistake, I’m taking this seriously. I respect Floyd, and I respect the sport. I’ll be ready.”

Tyson’s reflections highlight the challenges that even the most seasoned athletes face. His willingness to acknowledge his mistakes and learn from them is a testament to his professionalism and dedication to the sport.

As the date for the Mayweather exhibition approaches, all eyes will be on Tyson to see if he can turn his lessons into a performance that echoes his glory days. One thing is certain: the boxing world will be watching closely.
