In the realm of Irish boxing, a new star is on the rise, driven by ambition and the dream of etching her name in the annals of sporting history. Sarah Murphy, the teenage sensation from Kildare, is not merely chasing victories; she is on a quest to become a trailblazing champion. As Ireland’s youngest active professional boxer, Murphy is setting her sights on unprecedented achievements.

Murphy, a prospect under JB Promotions, is eyeing the Boxing Union of Ireland International title, a belt rumored to be in the pipeline. “I want to continue making history as the youngest professional boxer in Ireland,” Murphy stated. “To eventually secure that BUI International belt and be the first woman to win it would mean the world to me.”

The young pugilist is scheduled to step into the ring again on May 30th in Leopardstown, determined to maintain her momentum throughout 2026. “I’m hoping this year is going to be very busy, and I aim to gain as much experience as possible,” she explained after her recent victory over Joanna Fraszczak. “The focus was on being more composed, picking my shots carefully, and not rushing.”

Murphy’s training regimen has been nothing short of rigorous, with notable sessions alongside Irish boxing icon Katie Taylor. “We worked with Katie and Pete Taylor in Amsterdam on more technical aspects,” Murphy revealed. The 18-year-old boxer felt the improvements were evident in her recent bout. “I was a lot calmer, more relaxed in picking my shots, but when I saw she was hurt, I threw a good few as well.”

As Murphy continues her journey, she is not just fighting for personal glory but also paving the way for future generations of Irish boxers. Her dedication and the guidance from seasoned champions like Taylor are shaping her into a formidable force in the ring.

In other boxing news, Chantelle Cameron is making waves as she bids to become a two-weight world champion. Cameron is set to fight Michaela Kotaskova for the WBO super-welter title, adding another chapter to her illustrious career. Meanwhile, Caroline Dubois has dismissed the chances of a showdown with Katie Taylor, stating she won’t chase a fight that Taylor is unlikely to accept.

As the boxing world watches these narratives unfold, Sarah Murphy’s story stands out as a testament to youthful ambition and the relentless pursuit of greatness.
