In a thrilling announcement that has sent shockwaves through the boxing world, the charismatic former World Heavyweight Champion, Tyson ‘The Gypsy King’ Fury, is set to make his long-awaited return to the ring. Fury will headline Netflix’s inaugural boxing event, facing off against the formidable Aslanbek Mahmudov on April 11, 2026, in the United Kingdom.
The 37-year-old British sensation, boasting an impressive record of 34-2-1 with 24 knockouts, will be looking to reclaim his position at the pinnacle of the heavyweight division. Standing in his way is the 36-year-old Russian-Canadian slugger, Mahmudov, who brings a record of 21-2 with 19 knockouts to the table.
Mahmudov, hailing from Montreal, Quebec, but originally from Mozdok, Russian Federation, is riding high on the back of a unanimous decision victory over David Allen in October 2025. Meanwhile, Fury has been conspicuously absent from the ring since his unanimous decision loss to current World Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024.
The 10-round bout was officially announced by Saudi Arabian promoter Turki Alalshikh on January 28, 2026. Alalshikh expressed his excitement, stating, “We are thrilled that Tyson Fury has chosen to come out of retirement for what promises to be an electrifying heavyweight showdown against Mahmudov.”
Early odds have already been released, with Fury installed as a commanding 1:6 favorite at -590 to emerge victorious. Mahmudov, on the other hand, is considered a 4:1 underdog at +400. The towering Fury, standing at 6’9″ with an 85-inch reach, will enjoy a significant size advantage over his opponent, who measures in at 6’6″ with a 77.6-inch reach. Both fighters, however, share the orthodox stance.
Despite his imposing record, Mahmudov’s chin has been called into question following a fourth-round TKO loss to Agit Kabayel in December 2023, which saw him hit the canvas three times. He also suffered an eighth-round stoppage at the hands of Guido Vianello in August 2024. Nevertheless, Mahmudov has been the more active of the two fighters, competing three times in 2023, twice in 2024, and twice in 2025.
Speculation is rife that a victory for Fury could potentially set up a title shot against WBO interim World Heavyweight Champion Fabio Wardley. As the boxing world eagerly awaits this high-stakes clash, one thing is certain: the stage is set for an unforgettable night of action when Tyson Fury steps back into the ring.
